Yingfei Xue
Research and Development Department, TideCloud Company, Shanghai, China

Biography: Yingfei Xue is currently Chief Technology Officer in the Department of Research and Development at TideCloud Company which provide the SaaS solutions based on the business scenario. Core product TideCloud is the IoT PaaS for the applications to provide safe and reliable data storage and computing service, as well as real-time and historical data processing and analysis tools. Yingfei Xue received his Master degree from the department of Computer Science at the Shanghai Jiaotong University, China in 2007. Yingfei Xue’s research areas are in database, mass storage, big data, smart city and IoT PaaS. He used to work for the Baidu nearly four years and take charge of the private cloud platform and the IoT PaaS team; the Core member of the Sybase ASE database in 2008; and the Researcher of Grand Cloud Computing department in 2011.

Topic: TideDB : A Distributed, Scalable Time Series Database

Abstract: Some of the largest datasets have strong time components, like machine monitoring, real-time alert and IoT devices etc. Despite so many applications of time series data, most storage options are either highly proprietary or worse, relational. Unlike other alternatives, TideDB does not have a data with multiple metrics broken down into multiple data with one metric that increase the pressure on system throughput dramatically, rather its data modeling based on the computed column and tag words index can provide high write throughput, low read latency, and petabytes storage. TideDB has been deployed in production settings on large clusters to manage multiple terabytes of storage at Baidu. In this talk we describe how we have used TideDB to store and organize our time series data from about three hundred thousand machines and millions service modules.
